Nowadays, in the time of globalization, an idea of one language spoken worldwide is often mentioned. The use of one language worldwide would of course be a step to better communication and relations between people living on the same globe, but would not it have effect on peoples identity and culture?
The introduction of one obligatory language worldwide would cause better communication between different nations, cultures, and ethnic groups. Improving international relations is one of the main goals of 21st century. In this aspect common language, to a certain extent, would achieve its aim, as a language barrier between people living on different parts of this planet would be broken. This would also have a big effect and advantage in everyday life such as: travelling , offices, more job opportunities, as people would be more mobile, knowing that there is no language barrier.
On the other hand, during a period of globalization, with international organizations, markets and official trade agreements between the nations, language and culture is all we have left in order to identify ourselves. Therefore giving up our own native language would cause degradation of our national pride, culture, tradition and close connection that we have with the people who speak the same language as we do.
In conclusion, common language would make a life way easier, it would break the barriers and improve relations between people living on Earth. However use of only one language worldwide would cause a fall in people's regional languages and cultures. I believe, that each country should stick to their own native language, however, in order to improve international relations on Earth, each country should introduce an education of one obligatory language (official language for the entire world). This solution will allow people to stick to their mother tongues as well as to extend their horizons learning a new language.
